Shahid-Priyanka: Follow each other again

Mumbai, May 26 -- Hi da hi my naughties and hotties! How goes it with you in your duniya? It's going pretty smooth for now in mine, though one can never tell when things get hectic all of a sudden. So I'm ensuring to make the most of it and enjoy the leisure while it lasts. Now, before I digress any further, read on my sweetums, for your dose of daily goss is here.

I've just been informed that Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra are back to being buddy buddy once again. Yeah, all that talk of the two going katti after Kaminey is passe.

And Shasha, who had un-followed Priyanki on Twitter, after they stopped talking to each other, is back to following her. Ditto PC, though it's another thing that she's not been able to log online of late, thanks to poor connectivity in Coorg, where she's filming Vishal Bhardwaj's Saat Khoon Maaf.

And you know what? The Kapoor dude is very pally with Priyanki's cousin, Pareeniti Chopra too. My jasoos tells me that she assisted Parmeet Sethi on Badmaash Company, during which the actor had even given her a nickname. I'm told he used to call her 'Baby'. Aha!

By the way, khabru also says that Kapoor has cultivated this new habit of giving names to everyone he comes in regular contact with. Seems he calls Atul Kasbekar a 'Xyloman' after the ace lensman's commercial for the gaadi.

Woh sab toh theek hai... But the question is, what is Shasha's name for Priyanka Chopra? I've already ordered my informer to get me the details. Hmm.

'Dum Maaro Dum' to release in February 2011

New Delhi, May 26 (IANS) The Abhishek Bachchan-Bipasha Basu-starrer thriller "Dum Maaro Dum" will release Feb 4 next year, its producers say.
"We are hugely excited about 'Dum Maaro Dum'. It has a great script. It is vibrant and contemporary and we expect the film to appeal to a wide audience. The February timing is perfect and it is strategically timed just before the cricket World cup," Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox Star Studios India, said in a statement.

Fox Star Studios India is co-producing the film with Ramesh Sippy.
"Dum Maaro Dum" will be Fox Star's third outing to release in the same period. The studio released multiple Oscar-award winning "Slumdog Millionaire" in January 2009 and Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "My Name is Khan" in February this year.

"The window of late January and early February works for us also as we are familiar with the release environment during that period", said Singh.

Ramesh Sippy echoed similar sentiments. "The film is shaping up very well and the audiences should get ready to enjoy a gripping, moving film with great visual appeal, coming their way on February 4," he said.
Directed by Rohan Sippy, "Dum Maaro Dum" is an action-thriller with Abhishek playing a fearless cop. The movie races through India's largest tourist destination Goa and also stars Aditya Panscholi and Pratiek Babbar. Telugu star Rana Daggubati makes his Bollywood debut with the movie.

After completing the first schedule of the film in Goa, the cast and crew will start shooting for a second schedule in Mumbai next month.

Dus Ka Dum 3 postponed? SALMAN KHAN

Mumbai, May 26 -- If trade buzz is anything to go by, then Salman Khan has allotted bulk dates to Anees Bazmee for his film, Ready, that goes on the floors on June 18, putting Sony's plans of returning with Dus Ka Dum Season Three on hold for now. The show that was reportedly expected to go on air in the next two months, will now wait till September or October.

According to Sony, the show was not expected to be on air in the next few months anyway. So they have little to worry about. Danish Khan, head of marketing for Sony, says, "For now, I can just tell you that there wasn't a slot decided for it. At the same time, we're quite sure the show should come on air well within this year, but the final calendar for the remaining year has not been locked yet."

More money

Rumours are that Khan was adamant that he would shoot for Dus Ka Dum Season Three only if the channel agreed to double his fee from Season Two. Sources indicate that he was paid approximately Rs 80 lakh per episode last season, that lasted for more than 25 episodes. This year, the figure is expected to be between Rs 1.25 crore and Rs 1.5 crore.

Sources from Sony and Big Synergy confirm the news. "Salman will be paid higher this year because he deserves it. The channel needs his support and his show got them decent ratings," says a source from Big Synergy. On being asked about Dus Ka Dum Season Three and the production team's plans to rope in special guests and commoners, finalising a location for the shoot and, of course, the fee being paid to Salman Khan, Siddharth Basu from Big Synergy says, "You'll have to address queries on any forthcoming plans on Dus ka Dum to the broadcaster. Salman has been the most entertaining and unconventional host and whoever followed Dus Ka Dum regularly, loved him."

He adds that scheduling and commercial deals with star talent are the purview of the broadcaster and not the producer. "To my knowledge, both Sony and Salman are keen to do the show, and there have been no issues arriving at a commercial understanding," says Basu.

A source from Sony says that the deal with Khan was to be inked in April, after which an official announcement was expected but that will take a while now. The number of episodes in Season Three is likely to be the same as Season Two. Non-disclosure Vikas Kapoor, who manages the actor-host's work, without accepting or denying the rumour about Khan being paid double the fee, says, "Salman is definitely being paid more than the first two seasons. But as a policy matter, I will not disclose the amount."

Salman Khan, when asked about Dus Ka Dum, admits that the third season will flag off very soon. "The reason for the success of the show is probably that I am me in the show and not a movie star. That's how I am at home also. You can ask my friends and they will vouch for it. I bring my buddies on the show and we have a blast. Guys like Ajay (Devgn), Sanju (Sanjay Dutt) and Fardeen (Khan), who are otherwise wary of doing interviews, readily appeared on my show. It's a comfortable space. They know they can be real. We are a bunch of happy-go-lucky-boys and that's what connects with the audience. We are as 'aam' (common) as they are," adds Khan.

Riteish Deshmukh: Ever-Ready!

Mumbai, May 26 -- Twitchy toes, shifty legs, sweaty palms, chest pounding "GULP!!! Calm down, it's going to be just fine! Deep breath, here goes"

A sequence of emotions every time we were to have a design review in architecture school and it was my turn to present the culmination of a semester's work before the "Grand Jury." I now wonder what the cause of anxiety was, they were just school professors giving us critical reviews on our design dissertations. Such logic though, didn't prevail in those moments of truth!

The setting on a review morning was typical. You would have the enthusiastic bunch, brimming with confidence and re-rehearsing their zealously prepared speeches for the 100th time! Not that this deserved the undertone of disgust, just sour grapes, I guess. Then there were those who didn't have any hope to make any kind of impression - had just about managed to bring semi-rendered drawings and notion of a model. And then there were 'US' - too cool to be on time, too confident to have prepared spiels or too exhausted from not having slept for the last 36 hrs!

The mantra "Creativity comes from Chaos" made the generic 'US' come to terms with our constant disposition. The real world of course doesn't present the same scenario. Either you're ready or you're not! No kind of Creative Chaos theory can get you through a job which was supposed to get delivered and didn't get done!

Years later I was at the inauguration my first building project. This time around, I was the enthusiast. Not feeling so nerdy, I thought, "I could get used to this confidence that comes with being ready to deliver when promised". The crowd had gathered, the ribbon was cut, and now it was time for the designer (ME) to say a few words (pre-rehearsed) and then it came... Twitchy toes, shifty legs, sweaty palms, neck craning, chest pounding "GULP!!! Calm down, it's going to be just fine! Deep breath, here goes." I guess you can never be too prepared!
